By shoveling snow you displace it only to displace it again & again.  By washing down snow with salty sea water you get rid of the problem in the first shot. 

THE TRADITIONAL SYSTEM OF HANDLING SNOW MULTIPLE TIMES   

A small city like Halifax has a budget of 20 million dollars just for clearing up the snow on its roads and pedestrian pathways. The budget for repairs of roads during the summer months is another 10 million. They use giant trucks with wide ploughs for pushing & piling up the snow from the center of the roads onto the two edges & pedestrian paths. Basically we are spending energy & money on displacing the snow in multiple sweeps from the roads onto the side walks first. In the next attempt we try and clear up a narrow path on the sidewalks by displacing the piled up snow the second time, using mini Bobcats with ploughs.

When it snows continuously or in quick secession for three or four occasions, then we have a major problem, because we run out of space on our over stocked sidewalks to pile up the additional snow. In the mean time the first snow has hardened up into solid ice to make matters worse.

UTILIZING THE NEVER USED FIRE FIGHTING PIPELINE NETWORK

This innovative system is proposing the use of the highly under utilized fire fighting pipeline network & salty sea water, to wash away the snow from the roads. The extensive pipeline network happens to be laid out all along the main roads. Minor modifications will be required to pump in the sea water instead of the regular treated water, during the winter season only.

USING SALTY SEA WATER TO FLUSH OUR THE FALLING SNOW

It is also proposed to fix up special purpose nozzles on every hydrant along the roads to spray a shower of salty water on to full width of the road including the sidewalks to wash away the falling snow as it is falling down. The special purpose nozzles/jets will additionally sway left and right to cover a large area of the road up to the half of the next hydrant. This methodology will ensure that every inch of our road is cleared up of the falling snow. Hopefully the salty water spray will absorb the falling snow flakes before they touch the ground and turn them into “rain water”. 

SPECIAL PURPOSE NOZZLES WITH AUTO ON / OFF SYSTEM

The special purpose nozzles will function / operate at a predetermined pressure, which can be easily controlled at the pumping station control room. Once the pressure is reduced the water flowing from the nozzles stops automatically to conserve the amount of salty water supply & energy. Fortunately, the layout of this township is hilly and strategically located on the sea coast. In many locations the ocean creeps into the towns most populated areas.  The flow of salty water from higher regions will additionally assist in sweeping the deposited snow in lower regions. This way we will have tackled the snow only once, the first time as it should be done. 

ADVANTAGES & HUGE SAVINGS  

The extensive damages due to the shearing force of heavy ploughs to the roads will be totally eliminated. The additional cost of repairs to these damaged roads will also be zero. The inconvenience caused to the public on account of delays because of rush hour repairs will be mitigated too.

The huge cost of owning and operating the gigantic fleet of ploughs and Bobcats will be minimized to a great extent. The winter parking ban of vehicles on streets can be lifted now for the benefit of public. It is estimated that the government can save up to at least 15 million dollars annually, if not more. The cost of minor modifications and new nozzles on every hydrant is only a one-time cost which will be recovered in the very first year alone. A pilot study must surely be done on a small area of the township to prove the effectiveness of this out of the world idea.  Good luck town planners.

NEW PARADIGM - ACCIDENT PROOF VEHICLES & HIGHWAY DESIGN 

This dream concept is based on billiards / snooker table & game. 

In the Golden age the highway shoulders / edges do deflect the vehicles back into the road and the vehicles behave just like the billiards balls.  We have a fool proof system which is totally accident free. If and when our new vehicles collide, they never crash into each other but simply get deflected, change their course / direction and keep moving on just like the balls do in our game of snooker / billiards.

CIRCULAR / BALL DESIGN FOR ZERO ACCIDENTS 

Our new vehicles will be round / circular in shape approximately six feet in diameter for normal mid size cars, going up to eight feet in diameter for luxury cars. The deflecting bumpers encircling the vehicle will be located at fixed predetermined height of say 18 inches to match up with the deflecting shoulders at the sides of the highways. They will be made of reinforced fiber glass or any other suitable material to be decided after prototypes.

COMPRESSED AIR & JET PROPULSION TECHNOLOGY

The new vehicles will be powered by compressed air and move forward on jet propulsion concept of the air. No complicated engines or gear boxes & transmissions. The wheels will have 360 degrees of freedom like your office chair. We can have three wheels to begin with and end up with five wheels for greater stability for larger sized vehicles. On impact, with any object or another vehicle the forward propulsion of vehicle/vehicles will shut off automatically and the neutral state will prevail to allow them to come to a gradual halt. 

DRIVERS VIEW WITH 360 DEGREE MANEUVERABILITY 

The driver of our new vehicles will be perched high up in the center of the semi-spherical glass dome for all round visibility and balance when there is just one occupant in the vehicle which happens to be most of the times. The passenger seats will be slightly lower down, distributed evenly on all sides. No air bags are required in this newest concept. Expensive insurances can be done away with, thus bringing down the overall cost of owning and driving a vehicle. Why would anyone not opt for such a no traffic jam, pollution free mobility. See you happy peaceful souls in the Golden Age very soon, in the drivers seat.

PITFALLS OF CONVENTIONAL GIANT TURBINES

Giant horizontal shaft wind turbines have their pitfalls which are as massive as they themselves are. Exorbitant initial manufacturing costs, high noise pollution, massive free hold space for installation in remote areas, substantial loss of power during transmission to the usage point, which defeats their purpose of putting them up. The costs of maintenance / repairs and installation are a separate chapter by itself. Financing such herculean projects becomes risky for the institutions with all the above factors on the negative side. Additionally, the insurance companies have to take big hits when the high winds & tornadoes topple these STEEL FANS like match sticks.  

THINK MICRO & LOCAL

If you want to eradicate poverty, then we have to go the micro financing route and empower the common / poorest man.

If you want to succeed in the garbage removal & disposable area then we have to go the localized route, of handling & disposal of garbage at the very source of its generation.   

If we want free power from the wind, then we have to go the easy route of MINI VERTICAL SHAFT WIND TURBINES. These wind mills are proposed to be installed on every pole that the power company owns and uses for power transmission to each household/group of houses. They will supply the power directly into the POWER GRID, when they do turn & twist at unbelievable low wind speeds of 5 kilometers per hour & even at 90 kilometers per hour.

Such low velocity winds are always blowing all along the coastline and in-lands on islands like Nova Scotia & Prince Edward. This is how we ensure that there are zero transmission losses because the consumer is using the generated power right there. This loss is a big loser when we go the conventional route.  

It is proposed to manufacture slender 12 / 15 inches’ diameter mini wind turbines about three feet tall. They will have double plated bases which would be spring loaded to minimize the vibrations caused on account of high revolutions per minute at high wind speeds. They will be locked into positions at the pole tops with innovative low cost arrangements.

SUCCESS OF THE PROPOSAL - EXISTING POWER LINE POLES

This innovative idea uses, the under utilized existing infrastructure of poles & their tops, the managerial setup of big power companies, their ability to out source the manufacture of such mini wind turbines, and finally install them in bulk is the key selling point for this otherwise not so profitable proposal, when done on a piecemeal basis.

Each mini turbine will be of no more the 1 kw capacity or maximum of 2 kw, to keep the cost of manufacture low and standardize the item. It will come in multiple colors to lure the local customer, homeowner to buy or finance it in easy installments. The customer, the consumer of power will be given a standard rebate in his power bill depending upon the RUNNING TIME of the wind mill which should be pretty easy to measure up and record.  50 thousand wind turbines running at full speed will generate 50,000 x 1 kw = 50,000 kw of power.

In a township of 400,000 it should not be very difficult to get 50,000 customers who would love to own their own mini wind turbine, specially when the arrangement between the power company is very TRANSPARENT. The author would definitely like to own one if not more such efficient wind turbines.

The tourism industry would additionally benefit from such an attractive looking site of spinning blades and colorful shades on thousands of POLE TOPS.

Why travel the conventional way, expensive, fast, hurried, full of hassles, and arrive at your destination, tired, behind time or ahead of your clock time ?  

The other way to travel is to CRUISE along in the air just like you cruise on the ocean waters in a gigantic ship. You guessed it right, I am hinting at the Air Ship. A helium filled gigantic air ship with modern technology to compress the Helium gas at the press of a button to bring down the air ship on land, load her up, and to expand the helium gas for lift off and cruise away.

The chambers for the passengers and crew would be totally separate from the helium chambers, which could be located on the upper decks. The lower decks would house all the livable quarters for the passengers, crew and their amenities required for long travel times. 

If we can build and fly Dream liners weighing thousands of tonnes then slow moving feather light Air ships is a sure possibility too.

It is proposed to ascend to the height, just below the clouds to take advantage of the high winds in this region to move forward towards our destination. It is further suggested to take the help of the weather network to plan the flights / cruises so that we could take the maximum benefit from the freely blowing winds at no cost to us. 

HYBRID SHIPS WITH SOLAR ENERGY TOO

Since the surface area of our Air ship is bound to be pretty large one, we must additionally plan for Solar power for on board needs & usage. 

Because the planet Earth is rotating in one particular direction - from west to east we must invariably plan for travel in the opposite direction and look for the winds which move from east to west to get additional advantage of the relative speeds: the Earth at 1000 km/hr. in one direction and the Air ship at maximum of 70km/hr in the other direction. We will get to our destination much faster and cheaper this way. I do realize that the power of gravity is always pushing us in the wrong direction, but at the cloud level its effect is mitigated to a large extent.

THE ART OF FLYING YOUR FLAGS  - with air of pride


The method of hoisting and flying flags is as old as 5000 years. It has not changed at all since Lord Krishna started to unfurl his crude flags in the Golden Age representing PEACE. White rectangular pieces of cloth were tied to sticks and fixed on their palace roof tops. He did not go to war with anyone, because back then there was just ONE kingdom of Lakshmi & Narayan and ONE Diety religion. War happens between two kingdoms.
 
In the present times we have another example of maroon colored PEACE flags of Confluence Age, being  flown high in Madhuban at Mt Abu by the Brahma Kumari spiritual organization.

The other global flags come in multi colors representing Nations, Territories, States, Provinces. We also have flags for different events, sports, religions, & celebrations. They hang lifeless from high poles of steel, wood or bamboo. The age old design consists of a small pulley mounted at the top of the poles and a double rope to take the piece of cloth up to hoist it and then bring it down when not required usually at sun set.

RE-ENGINEERING THE FLAG & ITS FLYING ART.
 
It is proposed to re-engineer this archaic design as a modified WIND SOCK to take in the low speed winds and fly horizontally to display it true colors, design and pride instead of hanging lifelessly from pole tops.

It is suggested to fabricate a flattish Oval Wind Sock instead of the conventional round one. If you hammer in the round one it would become flattish, more of vertical parabola or ellipse. A rounded rectangle approximately 4 inches wide and the height depending upon the height of the flag design, would complete the description. Now we will need two pieces of cloth with their designs but in mirror images this time, to make one hollow flag by stitching up at the top and bottom only. The vertical sides of the new flag will be kept open to allow the air/wind to pass through. The vertical ellipse would be reinforced with wire rods or other suitable materials to give and retain its shape. This shape will extend into 1/4 Th of the flag horizontally, with slight taper as it is done on every wind sock to allow the winds to blow into the flag. The balance 3/4 Th of the flag will drop down as usual.

The pole design too has to modified slightly to accommodate the new wind sock flag. The top portion of the round pole must be flattened in to allow the wind into the flag. Additionally ball bearing arrangement must be built into the design of the poles to allow 360 degrees rotation of the Oval shaped wind sock flags.

USE OF COMPRESSED AIR TO FLY FLAGS FULLY

During the Beijing Olympics the national flags of all countries were very intelligently kept flying horizontal at all times with the help of compressed air blowing through the holes in the tubular poles on which a single cloth piece flags were mounted. It was a costly affair and totally indoors.

Mini table top models of such Oval wind sock flags would be a huge tourist attraction & big business in every country.

DISPLAY OF STAMPS ON AN ENDLESS SCROLL - no messy albums

PHILATELY COLLECTION - ON A REEL, JUST CRANK IT
                                                 
NEW HOBBY
 
Many teenagers are fascinated by stamps of different countries, their exotic designs, eye catching pictures, landscapes, & growing desire to possess, manage, display such a collection to their friends, cousins & relatives. It boosts up their delicate budding Self esteem in a positive way.
This exciting journey starts with a manageable size box, made of metal or cardboard. This box acts as a primary storage for stamps which are now being eye-spiced & frantically hunted out. The energetic teen starts raiding temples, churches, offices, local  shops, to pick up the empty incoming mail envelopes from their trash cans, quickly retrieve the stamps from them by tearing away the right hand corners of these loaded envelopes. He takes extra care not to mutilate the valuable stamps while tearing them off. All these pieces go into that prized box till it fills up as a sizable lot for further processing.
 

BARTER OF POSSESSIONS
 
Since more than one teenager is into this hobby, they start comparing notes, keep track of their duplicates & exchange them for the good looking stamps which they do not have. More stamps are amassed through barter exchange of kit kats, nick knacks, lunch boxes, minor gifts from the treasure chest even from non stamp collecting friends, who are admonished to bring in all that they can.

 
INTERNATIONAL PENFRIENDS / PEN-PALS
 
Personally I went a step further to befriend & establish four pen-pals in various countries like Philippines, USA, Great Britain & Japan. After some initial friendship, requests were sent out for stamps, to which they willing & overwhelmingly obliged. In return they received sample of stamps from India & other interesting gifts too.

 
HAND ME DOWNS
 
The most rewarding method of amassing stamps in bulk was to inquire from my seniors school mates if they were fed up of their stamp collection and wished to part with it. To my surprise two out of twenty candidates  readily agreed  to give it away gratis, because they had grown out of it & wished to move on to newer more exciting areas of exploration of the opposite sex.  My joy knew no bounds. In one year of starting this hobby of mine, I had amassed three massive collections along with two albums handed down fully complete in all aspects. A pretty good head start for a first timer in this area.

 
GETTING READY & PRELIMINARIES
 
The next logical step of stamp collection is to retrieve the stamps in good condition from their glued up state on the envelope tear ups. They are soaked in water over night in a large container. Next day they are carefully peeled from their paper backs  & placed between sheets of old news papers for drying. Many  floating ones are picked up first & laid out between the news papers. Another two days of wait gives the teens their fully dried stamps in pristine condition. Now these virgin stamps are transferred into another metallic box & stored in a secure cupboard under lock & key. In about six months & three to four routines of the above watery exercise, this prized box starts over flowing, which is an indicator that the time has come to affix these stamps into the albums.

 
AFFIXING & DISPLAY
 
The stamps have to go into their respective country earmarked on the pre-printed album. The stamps can be arranged or grouped together depending upon your personal choice. They can go in date-wise, size-wise, shape-wise, theme-wise, or as a work of art like a collage. The draw back of such bounded albums is that you run out of sheets of  particular countries while the less famous countries are still empty & blank.

 
CUSTOM MADE ALBUM - STAGE - I
 
This predicament was tackled very smartly by putting together my custom made album, spiral bound, for additions & adjustments, with large sheets of thick paper easily available from trashed print outs of IBM computers. The printed sides were glued together to give me clean set of white thick pages for affixing my stamps on.  I allocated 25 sheets for India alone keeping the future growth in view. In five to six years this home made giant album was full of beautiful stamps arranged into colorful collages & themes. The most fascinating stamps came from China, Mongolia & Russia - USSR.  Soon the number of albums multiplied to nine. Now we had resorted to the use of old photo albums to hold & display our stamp collection through the transparent plastic sheets.  We allocated photo   albums country-wise  & continent-wise to solve the growing numbers, issue. 

THE ENVIOUS SCROLL ALBUM - INNOVATION BY ACCIDENT
 
My creativity was still not satisfied with this arrangement of display locked  into, bound up photo albums. The WOW factor was missing.  One day the idea of Album as an endless scroll came to my mind. I started working on it & soon the blue print for the perfect gadget was on paper. Just like the movie film projector arrangement, but this would be horizontal version of it. Two long rollers / spools spaced apart, with ball bearings to facilitate their smooth rotation. Six hundred feet of black paper would hold all the stamps which must be at-least fifteen inches wide to accommodate ten rows of separate themes. One countries theme would gradually flow into the same theme of the next country giving the viewer a sense of continuity. The typical layout of the fifteen inch wide section was finalized as follows:

This layout was very appealing allowing the viewer to focus at the row of his interest while the scroll turned & different countries went past by him. It was also possible to slow down, back track, or go forward at will, just by turning the handle. This contraption was fabricated from wooden pieces put together very strategically. A third roller was placed in the center to raise the scroll up towards the viewer to increase the span of glance & enhance the total effect of the display. All my friends & cousins were deeply impressed by this gadget & soon it became the talk of the town. It is high time that this designers dream be commercialized for the common teenager. It is proposed to design & manufacture such a scroll album which must be collapsible & compact to fit into a bag eventually. A smaller eight inch version for the beginners & the fifteen inch full size for adults. Good luck dear stamp loving souls.

You can subscribe to the best religion in the world, yet portray a low class character / behavior. Spirituality brings out an exemplary behavior in the honest person, which makes him inspiring, attractive & happy.
Religion is a set of principles for living life.  Spirituality is imbibing these sets of principles into your elevated life. Usually we talk about them & are never serious in implementing them into our lives.

FINDING YOUR DIAMOND

There are three stages of finding your Diamond. First Discover it. Often it is covered with multiple layers of Ego, labels, roles. Second Uncover it. There are many thick veils of acquired conditioning over it & between you and the diamond. So diligently understand them,  remove them. Third stage is Recover it. Go beyond your limitations of Body consciousness with the help of Raja Yoga meditation & recover it from the depths of your Sanskars of the Pure Soul.

Rational decisions are logical steps taken by a thinking mind through the old pattern of beliefs  & sanskars, usually from past. When the thinking mind is fully aware in the present moment then the intuitive valves open up and we are able to take intuitive decisions.
Change is incremental newness in thoughts, words or deeds / actions.  Persistent change in a focused manner brings about major transformation, which should be visible & permanent.

We express and feel, Pure Love through the heart , directly and spontaneously. Mirror Gazing as a way of meditation. The idea behind mirror gazing is to see beyond the face, beyond the physical beauty of the face. Ask the fundamental question? WHAT IS COOKING ON YOUR MINDS BURNER?  Mind is your mental kitchen where you cook up strange & routine recipes. The ingredients for these recipes come from two main sources. Some are imported from the outside world of stimuli & others are hand picked from the pantry of Sanakars attached to the kitchen. You mix up the ingredients & the basic dough is ready as thoughts for further baking. The dough rises & expands into a cake or cookies of feelings. It is time for them to come out of the oven for plating, garnishing & presentation to the outside world as full-fledged  emotions. You manufacture them in your very own Master chef mental kitchen & then act them out as strong emotions.  Feelings are mental & you relive them inside, many times over, but Emotions are physical & you act them out.

Happiness is an inside job, permanent stable mental state of an elevated mind. It is the sole purpose of the Soul. Happiness is achieved by eliminating all mental conflicts small or big. Elimination happens when you sit down and resolve them consciously. 

Excitement is an outside job, temporary state of physical body with a stimulus from the material world, or pulled out from your passive memory.
Expectations are an invitation to irritations. Self created manifesto of one sided demands on others who are different from you. The poor other is not even aware of your wish list of demands.

SOUL POWER
 
Soul is powerful, indestructible, pen drive which only works when plugged into a human body. Now we can train the soul to feel love  for ourselves, others & Shiv Baba’s  love.
Love is a basic quality of the soul and it can emerge with lots of hard work through Raja Yoga.
Attachments are the anchors of the soul which prevent it from flying high to freedom. Shifting of body consciousness to soul consciousness will get you out of this predicament.
Reality is to live as souls & seeing others as souls too.

CHOICE: BEING IN ATTENTION OR BEING IN TENSION
 
Life is a cart & mind is the horse pulling it. Do not load up your cart  with mundane stuff or else the minds horse will get tired sooner than you think.
Normal living of humans is Out side IN mode. Material things will make me happy, therefore start the never ending pilgrimage of hoarding meaningless lifeless stuff, fabricated out of plastic, clay, metal, or wood. 
Natural living of elevated humans is In side OUT. First be happy inside then the rest is a piece of cake. I report to myself therefore I am responsible for my bliss.   The measure of spiritual study and it’s application will show up in your personality, behavior, service & happiness.

RESPONSIBILITY - ABILITY TO RESPOND
 
Do you react or respond to a situation. Reactions are automatic, routine, spontaneous & generally by reflex action. Response is always by choice, well thought out & usually positive no matter what.
Do you impose your opinion on others or influence others with your charisma. When you try to impose, force others to your view point, then they close up & shut down. But when you quietly, silently influence others with your vibrations then they open up & accept your view point easily.
